Kielder Waterside kicks off 2018 with double award win

Northumbrian Water's Kielder Waterside has started 2018 in award-winning style.

Landal Kielder Waterside based in Kielder Water & Forest Park, Northumberland, scooped two major awards at the national 2018 Go Active conference and awards dinner that was held in Wales this week.

The team were awarded ‘Best Go Active team in the UK' and ‘Best New and Innovative Activity in the UK' in recognition of their hard work throughout 2017.

The two awards build on the team's success from last year where they secured ‘Best UK Go Active Park' and ‘Best Instructor' awards at the same ceremony.

David Hall, Northumbrian Water's Head of Leisure Strategy and Transformation, said: "These most recent Go Active awards are testament to the hard work and commitment that the team at Landal Kielder Waterside put in every day and I want to congratulate them on this fantastic achievement.

"The awards are given following a rigorous two day assessment that looks at everything that the team do - from health and safety, instructor assessments, to guest feedback and trip reviews - and it's clear from the feedback from our guests and these award wins that they are doing an amazing job."

2017 was an incredibly successful year for Landal Kielder Waterside with VisitEngland selecting the park to be one of the inaugural recipients of its ROSE award, in recognition of excellent customer service.

The awards reflect the experiences of annual VisitEngland assessments, as well as online customer reviews.

The team also received the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award for the 14th year running, with a particular commendation for the park's commitment to nurturing and improving the biodiversity of the site, and the Special Distinction Award in the 2017 David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme - recognising the park's Osprey Watch offering.

David Hall added: "2017 saw Landal Kielder Waterside go from strength to strength and we've started 2018 in the same way. The experience for visitors is better than ever before, with a range of premium lodges, exciting and fun activities for all the family, and the darkest skies in England.

"I'm so proud of the team here at Landal Kielder Waterside and these recent awards are a real reflection of the work we are doing to make Kielder the Best holiday destination in Britain."
