12 hour mountain bike race
To celebrate the arrival of the Tour of Britain to Kielder, HighFell events are putting on this one-off 12 hour lapped mountain bike race. No matter if you are super competitive or just want to dip a toe in the endurance racing pond you’ll be welcome here. Starting at 7am from Kielder Castle and finishing there at 7pm come and cheer the riders to the end.
3 Sixty Cycle Stunt Team
Helping us to celebrate the Tour of Britain coming to Kielder, the amazing stunt team will be performing show stopping performances across the weekend plus you can get involved! The team will also be on hand to provide interactive sessions and teach you some bike skills.
Activities
Whether you’re a grown up or a little one, competitive or fancy a good chuckle we will have a number of activities for you to get involved in. Activities will run from 12pm – 7pm both days.

Street velodrome
You’ve seen the Olympic athletes tackle it and now you can too! Visit the street velodrome to see some jaw dropping cycling, you can also have a go and experience it for yourself.
Food
Having fun works up quite an appetite. Our street vendors will be selling a range of food for you to choose from. Hog roasts with all the trimmings, Yorkshire pudding wraps, gourmet pies and even halloumi fries! To satisfy any sweet cravings try our Nutella brownies, candyfloss, popcorn and yummy ice cream.
Join us in the Boat Inn for a wide range of pub grub, quality ales and fine wines.

Monday 4 September
Come and see the start of Stage 2 of the Tour of Britain at Kielder Dam. Watch 120 professional riders from 20 teams set off along the epic 211km route – the longest stage in the 2017 tour. A free shuttle bus service will run between Kielder Waterside visitor centre and the dam between 08:00 – 12:30.
Riders will set off from the Dam at 10:15am.
