Belvedere
Kielder Belvedere was Kielder's first architectural commission.

The shelter is constructed from stainless steel and reflects the natural environment, causing the structure to change its appearance in different weather conditions, at different times of the day, and as the seasons change.

Belvedere is a multi-award-winning work. Winner of the Stephen Lawrence Prize in 2000 as well as RIBA and Civic Trust awards.

You may catch sight of the mirror Belvedere shelter from the south shore at Tower Knowe Visitor Centre, Elf Kirk viewpoint and the tip of the Bull Crag peninsula.

The nearest public parking is at Hawkhope Car Park on the north side of Kielder Dam. Hawkhope is signed from the C200.

From the Hawkhope Car Park, follow the Lakeside Way west along the north shore of Kielder Water. Belvedere is sited down a short spur from the Lakeside Way at an area known as Benny Shank, approximately 3.75 miles from Hawkhope which can be walked in around 1hour, 40 minutes or cycled in about 30 minutes.

Belvedere is located on the north shore Lakeside Way between Robin's Hut, 1 mile to the west and 55/02, 1 mile to the east.

A good way to explore all the artworks along the Lakeside Way is by cycle. Bikes should be to at least hybrid cycle grade with decent country tyres for the changing terrain of Kielder Water & Forest Park.
