Kielder Art & Architecture worked with cancer charity “Daft as a Brush” to commission a sculpture to mark the source of the North Tyne River.

This also marks the start/finish point for a walking route from the source of the North Tyne to the sea and back.

The sculpture marks the highest position from which water still flows into the stream bed during summer months. During the winter water can be found contributing to the flow a further 300m up the hillside.

The completed monolith was brought to Kielder suspended under a Chinook helicopter and lowered into position.
